Handicap Accessibility As a Commercial Airline Captain for 25 years I’ve assisted many a physically impaired person to not only their destination but more importantly his/her seat in the aircraft. The process at best is cumbersome for the impaired person but with proper assistance doable. When designing and constructing my resort I took these many years of assisting with these impairments into consideration. Cabin accessibility; Either a ramp or a flat approach to the front door, then a wraparound porch with no elevation changes to give you total freedom of movement if confined to a wheel chair. Door handles; All door handles on the main level (accessible level) are lever type. If your arthritic or missing appendages you don’t have to concern yourself with turning a door knob. A simple task for many, an impossibility for some! Doorways; All doorways are 36” wide allowing ample clearance from room to room. Shower; Roll in shower with portable shower seat, grab rails, hand held wand in addition to a standard shower head. Commode; Handicap accessible height and grab rails to assist. Soaking tub with jets; Grab rails to assist and clearance for “hoist” if impairment demands. Vanities & Counter tops; Both height and width clearance for manually operated wheel chairs. Bed; King size on posts to allow clearance for lift if required.
Picnic & Park areas Once outside the cabin we haven’t forgot about your needs either. We have 3 picnic areas that overlook our 2 ponds and the East Fork of the Little Pigeon River. Each area has direct auto access for vehicles carrying impaired individuals. You can drive to water’s edge to enjoy nature and the sound of the flowing river. Each area also has handicap accessible picnic tables to fit your needs. All Equestrian areas, stables, round pen, and arena are handicap accessible as well.
I’ve made a serious attempt to make sure not to design a venue that would restrict you’re movement. Mother Nature has thrown in a few, but on my part I’ve been very conscientious and mostly successful.. ENJOY! PET FRIENDLY
Cats, Horses, dogs, we accept them all We take all sizes and most types of pets, there is no weight limitation We have over 10 miles of hiking trails to take your pet on. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park does not allow pets in most areas of the park. We instead ask that you maintain control of your pet. No leash is required as long as you have verbal control of you animal. If you have a lab or a retriever they’ll love this place. The East Fork of the Little Pigeon River fronts the property, it’s mostly walkable shallow and flows about as fast as you can walk.
Fees; There are additional fees but they are far less then kenneling your pet. An additional $100.00 damage deposit per pet, plus $10.00 per night per pet.
